Obama señaló que la amnistía de Laura Ling y su colega Euna Lee es una "fuente de alegría para todo el país" y aseguró que su gobierno se siente "enormemente aliviado" por su puesta en libertad.
El presidente de EU., Barack Obama, celebró la liberación de las dos periodistas encarceladas por Corea del Norte y agradeció a Bill Clinton el 'extraordinario esfuerzo' para lograr su retorno al país.

El gobierno norcoreano indultó a las periodistas, condenadas a 12 años de trabajos forzados por ingreso ilegal al país, luego de conversaciones entre Clinton y el líder Kim Jong Il.
Gore dijo que los familiares de ambas estuvieron "increíble, decidida y apasionadamente dedicados" a lograr la liberación de ambas.
"Cuando cruzamos las puertas, vimos frente a nosotras al presidente Bill Clinton", declaró en Lee medio de aplausos. 'Quedamos anonadadas, pero comprendimos en ese instante que la pesadilla de nuestras vidas había terminado finalmente", y ahora estamos aquí, en casa y libres'.
Lee fue la primera que descendió del avión y fue recibida por su esposo Michael Saldage y su hija Hanna, de 4 años. Abrazó a la niña y la levantó en brazos antes de abrazarse los tres ante las cámaras de televisión.
El reencuentro de las periodistas con sus familiares, al pie de la escalerilla del avión, fue extremadamente emotivo, especialmente por la forma en la que la hija menor de Euna se agarró al cuello de su madre nada más verla.
Hace 30 horas, agregó Ling, 'temíamos que en cualquier momentos podríamos haber sido enviadas a trabajos forzados'.
Ling abrazó a su esposo Iain Clayton.
'Los últimos 140 días han sido los más difíciles y dolorosos de nuestras vidas', declaró Ling, con la voz entrecortada por la emoción.
Las dos mujeres estuvieron presas durante más de cuatro meses en Corea del Norte.
Las jóvenes, que habían sido condenadas a 12 años de prisión y trabajos forzosos, han sido recibidas por sus familiares y un enjambre de periodistas en California.
Las periodistas Laura Ling y Euna Lee, liberadas por Corea del Norte gracias a la mediación de Bill Clinton, llegaron junto con el ex presidente estadounidense al aeropuerto Bobo Hope, en Burbank (California, EU).
