Distintos desperdicios, daños en el pavimento y brotes de agua negra son problemáticas a las que se enfrentan habitantes de la colonia Rincón la Merced diariamente. Sobre distintas vialidades de la zona conocida como Manhattan es posible encontrarse con desechos que van desde comida, bolsas de basura llenas de desperdicio y llantas, entre otras cosas sobre la banqueta y la carpeta asfáltica. Asimismo, muchas de las calles son prácticamente intransitables para los peatones y los automovilistas, quienes deben esquivar baches de varios metros de distancia y algunos centímetros de profundidad. De igual forma, la red de drenaje presenta fallas desde hace tiempo, por lo que es posible encontrar brotes de aguas negras que representan un riesgo para la salud de todas las personas que se ven obligadas a caminar por esos lugares, así como para los perros callejeros.
