Los devotos indios llevaron un ídolo del dios hindú con cabeza de elefante Lord Ganesha para sumergirse en el Mar Arábigo, como parte de un ritual del festival Ganpati en India. El festival Ganesh llega a su fin el día de Anant Chaturdashi. Durante el festival Ganpati, que se celebra como el cumpleaños de Lord Ganesha, los ídolos de la deidad hindú son adorados en cientos de pandales o tiendas de campaña improvisadas antes de sumergirse en el agua.
