Las recientes protestas en Moscú y otras ciudades han hecho mella en la autoridad de Putin en momentos en que busca recuperar la presidencia en unos comicios en marzo
El Partido Rusia Unida de Putin perdió el 25% de sus escaños en los comicios, pero conservó la mayoría en el Parlamento en lo que observadores independientes dijeron fue un fraude generalizado
Los participantes en el mítin atestaron una amplia avenida en la que caben casi 100,000 personas a unos 2.5 kilómetros (1.5 millas) del Kremlin, mientras la temperatura descendía por debajo del punto de congelación. Coreaban "¡Rusia sin Putin!"
Han sido las mayores muestras de descontento que el país ha visto desde la desaparición de la Unión Soviética en 1991.
La protesta en Moscú fue aún mayor que una manifestación similar hace dos semanas.
La marcha fue un indicio de la creciente indignación por el hecho de que el primer ministro Vladimir Putin haya permanecido 12 años en altos puestos del poder.
Decenas de miles de manifestantes vitorearon a los líderes de la oposición y abuchearon al Kremlin en la mayor protesta en la capital rusa hasta ahora contra un presunto fraude electoral.
