Desesperación, rabia e impotencia en Haití

Más de 10 cadenas de televisión de Estados Unidos realizarán un teletón de dos horas sin comerciales, con el fin de recabar ayuda para los cientos de miles de damnificados por el terremoto en Haití.
El Gobierno de Francia, anunció que va a pedir que se condone la deuda de 214.8 millones de dólares que Haití tiene con el Club de París.
El 70 por ciento de los edificios en 15 zonas de Puerto Príncipe ha quedado destruido por el devastador terremoto que asoló el país hace tres días.
El personal de la ONU, organizaciones humanitarias o el enviado por otros países para socorrer a los haitianos trata de llevar algo de alivio a una población que desde el martes vive en agonía.
El Gobierno haitiano está desintegrado, con algunos de sus miembros desaparecidos, y sin comunicaciones.
Paradójicamente toneladas de ayuda de todo tipo y cientos de médicos, bomberos y especialistas en rescate de víctimas de terremotos han llegado o están en camino hacia Haití desde todos los rincones del mundo.
Después del sismo del 12 de enero, ha habido 43 réplicas de una magnitud de 4.4 y 5.9 grados.
La desesperación se ha transformado en rabia en algunos lugares y ha habido saqueos y hasta barricadas formadas con cadáveres en algunas calles.
El hedor de los cadáveres en descomposición y el polvo de los edificios derrumbados hace irrespirable el aire.
Miles de personas pasaron su tercera noche a la intemperie.
Las comunicaciones siguen cortadas.
El agua y los alimentos escasean y los que hay se venden a precios por las nubes.
Los hospitales no dan abasto para atender a los heridos.
La Misión de Naciones Unidas para la Estabilización de Haiti (Minustah) es la única fuerza que intenta atajar el deterioro de la situación de inseguridad, pero su tarea es titánica debido a la amplitud de la catástrofe.
La falta de presencia policíal ha disparado la inseguridad y se esta registrando un aumento de los casos de pillaje en Puerto Príncipe.
La desesperación cundía entre los sobrevivientes del terremoto registrado en la capital haitiana este martes porque la enorme cantidad de ayuda con que la comunidad internacional ha respondido a este desastre no les llega todavía.
