Hace Obama visita sorpresa a Irak

Obama había visitado Irak en enero de 2006 y en julio del año pasado, en plena campaña electoral y en un viaje que le llevó a Basora, en el sur del país, Bagdad y Ramadi, antigua plaza fuerte de la insurgencia.
La visita del presidente estadounidense es la primera desde su llegada a la Casa Blanca, y su tercera en dos años.
El presidente estadounidense saludó a los cerca de 600 soldados presentes y participó en una ceremonia para imponer diez medallas al valor.
Obama se desplazó por carretera a la base aérea estadounidense "Camp Victory", donde recibió a Maliki y Talibani.
La visita por sorpresa, se produjo al término de una gira por Europa que le llevó a Londres, Estrasburgo (Francia), Kehl (Alemania), Praga, Ankarar y Estambul.
Obama había anunciado en febrero el fin de las operaciones de combate y la salida de la mayoría de los actuales 144 mil soldados allí desplegados para agosto del año próximo.
El presidente estadounidense aludió a los últimos atentados registrados en el país, que han dejado más de cuarenta muertos en Bagdad en dos días.
Obama se reunió con el mandatario iraquí en la residencia del comandante en jefe de las tropas estadounidenses en Irak, general Ray Odierno, en la base "Camp Victory" en las afueras de Bagdad.
Estimó que "los próximos 18 meses" pueden ser un "periodo crítico" para Irak.
El jefe de la Casa Blanca también expresó su confianza en que su viaje ayude a las distintas facciones iraquíes a hallar soluciones "equitativas y justas" a sus problemas.
