Varios jóvenes realizaron la danza del dragón en el Barrio Chino de Ciudad de Panamá, como parte de las celebraciones por la llegada del Año Nuevo lunar chino, que según el calendario este año corresponde al Buey.
Miles de creyentes visitaron el Templo de los Lamas, el monasterio tibetano más reconocido fuera del Tibet, para pedir buena fortuna durante el primer día del año nuevo chino en Pekín.
El primer día del año, o "bainian", está dedicado a visitar a los familiares y a acudir a los templos para pedir la buena fortuna en el ciclo que comienza, disfrutar de las danzas de dragones y leones y de espectáculos de títeres o de ratones amaestrados.
El Buey representa para los chinos el trabajo, el esfuerzo y el éxito, virtudes con las que esperan superar la crisis económica.
En medio de un auténtico bombardeo de fuegos de artificio celebró China la llegada del año nuevo lunar, su mayor festividad, que según el calendario chino este año corresponde con el del Buey, uno de los doce animales del zodíaco chino.
Numerosos fueron los guiños al Oeste norteamericano durante el desfile del Año Nuevo Chino que se celebró esta noche en la ex colonia británica.
El grito universal, como todos los años, pero sonando con más brío, si cabe, fue el tradicional "Kung hei fat choy". ¿Feliz año nuevo?, no exactamente, sino "Enhorabuena por lograr prosperidad".
El desfile, organizado por Turismo de Hong Kong por décimo cuarto año consecutivo, reunió agrupaciones de doce países y regiones.
Hong Kong, que será la anfitriona de los Juegos del Este Asiático a finales de año, entre el 5 y el 13 de diciembre, aprovechó la ocasión para presentar al público "Dony" y "Ami", sus dos mascotas.
Dos agrupaciones españolas y una mexicana (aunque bajo bandera estadounidense) participaron junto a 35 comparsas locales y extranjeras en un desfile que ha llevado por título 'La fiesta más feliz del mundo'.
Hong Kong recibió con alegría el Año del Buey.
