Disneyland solo había parado su actividad en tres ocasiones: Durante los atentados del 11-S (2001), la mañana en la que mataron al presidente John F. Kennedy (1963) y por el terremoto de Northridge (1994). El regreso de la actividad en los parques temáticos se ha recibido como un acercamiento a la normalidad para los residentes de California, aunque con protocolos para cumplir con las medidas sanitarias.
