Despega la nave Soyuz TMA-6 a la EEI

Tras la tragedia del Columbia en febrero de 2003, en la que murieron todos sus tripulantes, la NASA estadounidense suspendió los vuelos espaciales retrasando la incorporación a la ISS de otros módulos orbitales fabricados por Europa y Japón.
Además, les corresponderá ejecutar maniobras relacionadas con el restablecimiento de los vuelos a la ISS de los transbordadores estadounidenses, aparcados desde hace más de dos años por la catástrofe del Columbia.
Sharípov, Chiao y Vittori regresarán a la Tierra el 25 de abril en la nave Soyuz TMA-5, actualmente enganchada a la ISS y que será sustituida por la Soyuz TMA-6. Como las expediciones anteriores, Krikaliov y Philips deberán vivir en la ISS durante medio año y, además del intenso trabajo que supone mantener el ingenio en funcionamiento, realizarán un ciclo nuevo de pruebas científicas y al menos dos caminatas espaciales.
Mientras los rusos y estadounidenses se ocupan del relevo de las expediciones, Vittori realizará la misión "Eneida", que comprende más de 22 experimentos elaborados por científicos de Italia, Rusia y otros países europeos.
Durante esos ocho días, los tres vivirán en el ISS en compañía del estadounidense Leroy Chiao y el ruso Salizhán Sharípov, que forman la décima expedición y ya están listos para regresar a la Tierra tras más de seis meses de trabajo en la plataforma espacial.
Krikaliov y Philips asumirán en los próximos seis meses el mando de la estación espacial, mientras Vittori permanecerá en la órbita ocho días, como integrante de la llamada "expedición de visita", las que se realizan durante el relevo de las tripulaciones permanentes.
"Todos los sistemas funcionan con normalidad. El acoplamiento de la nave a la Estación Espacial Internacional está previsto para las 02.19 GMT del domingo 17 de abril", informó el Centro de Control de Vuelos ruso.
Nueve minutos después del lanzamiento, la tercera y última fase del Soyuz-FG alcanzó la denominada "órbita de ajuste" y se produjo la separación de la nave del cohete portador.
El lanzamiento se produjo a las 00:47 GMT con ayuda de un cohete portador Soyuz-FG, que despegó desde el cosmódromo de Baikonur, localizado en la república de Kazajistán, en Asia Central.
Rusia lanzó al cosmos la nave Soyuz TMA-6 que transporta a la Estación Espacial Internacional (ISS) a el ruso Serguéi Krikaliov y el estadounidense John Philips, integrantes de la undécima expedición a la ISS, así como el italiano Roberto Vittori, astronauta de la Agencia Espacial Europea.
